The 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010-South ceremony honouring the best South Indian films of 2009 was held grandly on August 7th, 2010 in Chennai. The awards in 40 categories were given to Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films.
SS Rajamouli’s prestigious film ‘Magadheera’ walked away with six Filmfare awards for Best Film, Best Actor (Ram Charan Tej), Best Director(SS Rajamouli), Best Cinematography(Senthil Kumar), Best Music(MM Keeravani) and Best Playback Singer-Male(Anuj Guruwara). Whilethe best actress award was bagged by Anushka for her role in ‘Arundhati’, the special jury award had gone to Yuvan Shankar Raja for his music in ‘Oye’.
On other hand, ‘Nadodigal’ won the Best Film award in Tamil, while Prakash Raj won the Best Actor award for his performance in ‘Kancheevaram’ and Priyadarshan won the Best Director award for the same film.
This time the Lifetime Achievement award was given to two persons-Kannada actor Ambareesh and Malayalam thespian KPAC Lalitha.
